This is the third art piece I created using the style called pointillism, a method of painting/drawing in which tiny dots are applied in patterns to form an image.
This art piece shows a carabao with an egret resting on its back.
Carabao is a swamp type domestic water buffalo found in the Philippines, where it is considered the national animal. It is also considered a symbol of Guam. According to Wikipedia, "In the early 1960s, carabao races were a popular sport in the island, especially during fiestas. Today, carabaos are a part of the popular culture. They are often brought to carnivals or other festivities, and are used as a popular ride for children."
Carabaos are used for farming and for pulling carts in rural villages in the Philippines. They are also a good source of meat, milk, and hide. Carabao hide was once used extensively to create a variety of products, which include the armor of pre-colonial Filipino warriors.

Cyril Maza is a self-taught artist and an engineer. He works as an engineer on week days and paints as an artist during weekends. He has a natural passion to build and to create, and is very much fascinated by activities where ingenuity, imagination, and creativity come into play. His childhood hobbies included drawing, playing mandolin, and solving puzzle games. He also liked to play with common household items, such as paper/cardboard boxes, glass/plastic bottles, wooden blocks, and even books. He would lay them all out on the floor forming a pattern that resembles a city, complete with buildings, roads, and parks. He would be so engulfed in his own little “world,” designing and building his own “city,” that you could leave him...
